Planning for the unexpected and staying safe while on campus, Austin Community College District (ACC) practices emergency response procedures and tests its emergency notification system as part of Emergency Preparedness Week from Tuesday, September 6, through Friday, September 9.

Every third week of the semester, ACC hosts Emergency Preparedness Week to train for the best actions to take in the event of an emergency on campus. The college will conduct building evacuation drills at select campuses and test the ACC Emergency Alert System districtwide.

Tips for emergency evacuation.

Get ready now and verify or update contact information online to receive emergency notifications. ACC also will test its Emergency Alert System. As part of the test, the college will send messages and text alerts to all registered accounts. A test message also will be posted on the ACC homepage and social media.

How to Prepare:

  1. View the ACC Emergency website for detailed information about various types of emergencies.
  2. Bookmark the page on your phone and computer.
  3. Get connected to ACC on social media. ACC emergency alerts and updates are available on Facebook and Twitter.
  4. Know the Emergency Egress Plan. Maps are posted on every campus and in classrooms to identify locations for emergency exits, rescue assistance, Automated External Defibrillators, shelter-in-place, and evacuation rally points.
