An agreement between the North Texas Municipal District (NTMWD) and the 13 member cities that comprise the regional water system has been reached on an amended wholesale water services contract.
The cost-sharing will be phased in over a 13-year timeframe. A separate agreement that was approved by the 13 member cities and NTMWD will determine the wholesale water rate increases that have been pending before the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
"NTMWD appreciates the efforts by all involved to reach an agreement that the 13 Member Cities support. This is truly a historic time in the region and continued growth of both our Member and Customer communities will only increase demands on our system" interim Executive Director Rodney Rhoades said in a press release. " We look forward to a fresh start in the partnership with our cities as we work together to provide the essential services needed to support our fast-growing region."
