Broaden Urban Investments to Leverage Dallas (BUILD) launched a small business grant program to help those who have been impacted by COVID-19 and the economic downturn.

According to a news release, the BUILD Small Business Grant Program will give Dallas businesses that have less than $250,000 on their 2019 payroll or have fewer than nine employees a one-time $3,000 grant. The program focuses on minority- and women-owned businesses in Southern Dallas, and the grants can be used for rent, utilities, payroll, inventory or purchasing equipment or machinery.

BUILD connects resources and initiatives across the county to help small businesses at every stage within the business cycle. BUILD Ecosystem launched in June. It is a partnership between Dallas' Office of Economic Development, BCL of Texas and Redbird Dec.

Grant money is expected to be disbursed by Dec. 30.
