The North Texas Municipal Water District has been approved for over $75 million for a Rowlett Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.
The funds will go toward the acquisition, construction and design of the expansion project at the Rowlett Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, North Texas e-News reported. Six counties in the district – Collin, Dallas, Denton, Fannin, Kaufman and Rockwall – are receiving a total of $75.4 million for the project.
The expansion will allow the district to increase the flow of 24 million gallons of wastewater per day to the 24 member cities and communities to 95 million gallons per day, which will help with the district's growing population.
Data concerning water is collected by the TWDB, which is a state organization that aids the state in water plans. The agency also works to develop water resources in Texas through its financial assistance programs that fund projects like the wastewater treatment plant expansion, including water supply construction, water conservation, flood control and other projects.
