Austin Community College District (ACC) students can apply now for a scholarship for fall classes. There are more than 700 scholarships available, and it only takes one application to apply.

“Students face many roadblocks pursuing their dreams of higher education. Without financial assistance, many of our students would have to postpone or stop their goals altogether. Receiving a scholarship removes that financial burden and keeps students on track,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Richard Rhodes. “ACC is committed to making sure college is something everyone can afford. I am so grateful for the generous support of our donors. Through their donations, we are able to provide millions of dollars in scholarships to our students.”

Each year, ACC awards more than $2.1 million in scholarships, with the average award being $1,000-2,000.

The General Scholarship Application is one-time application. Once a student submits, they’re automatically considered for all college scholarship opportunities. Personalized options are based on a student’s financial need for their academic success, heritage, and identity. It includes a short series of questions and one personal statement.

“Receiving a scholarship has made me feel a lot more open to possibilities in my life. It is not something that I thought would ever happen to me. I think receiving that scholarship was one of the first things that shifted my mindset about what I could actually receive and what opportunities I could take advantage of that could be a part of my life,” says Diana Carpenter, ACC scholarship recipient. “It completely changed how I approached school, so there is no reason not to go for every opportunity presented to you.”

What you need to know:

  • All ACC students are eligible to apply
  • 1 in 4 applicants receives money for college
  • Scholarships are the closest thing to free money and don’t have to be repaid
  • Relieving financial stress with scholarships increases graduation expectation
  • Scholarship money is your money to spend where you need it to reach your goals

The priority deadline to apply for ACC scholarships is May 1.
